Mazda 3 MPS Extreme

It’s kind of fitting that towards the end of the current Mazda’s model rim, they trot out the ultimate 3. It’s the brandchild of Alan Horsley, a Mazda Motorsport nutter who loves tinkering in the toolshed to build wicked wheels.
Based on the already well-endowed Mazda 3 MPS, the extreme model adds more power enhanced suspension, bigger wheels and brakes and revved-up interior. Subtle engine upgrades deliver 10 percent more power than a standard MPS 20 percent more torque as well as improved dynamics and luxury features. Maximum output from the direct injection turbo 2.3 litre, four-pot is rated at 210KW/425Nm instead of 190 kW (255 hp) and it all goes through the front wheels.
There’s a big bore exhaust system with sports muffler for performance and sound improvements and the suspension has been modified and lowered by 25mm. Extreme rolls on 19-inch matt black alloys fitted with Dunlop sports tyres. The roof is in high-gloss black as is the rear wing to contrast with the bright red body color.
This one-off car has extended wheel arches to fit the tyres and the windows are a sinister dark tint. Horsley and the boys went to town inside the car too, fitting red fasciapanels and two-tone red/black leather upholstery including the multi-function wheel. Making it all stop are brakes from the MPS with a larger power booster and master cylinder. It’s a sight to behold leaving nobody in doubt as to what lies beneath the gaudy clothes. Then, the look is fully validated when you get behind the wheel. It’s action aplenty, a slick six speed transmission, five seconds or better 0-100km /h (0-60 mph) time. If you can get it off the line right, and sensational roll-on acceleration.
The car fuel efficiency is sub 10-litres/100km and is available in Australia.
