2009 Audi R8 LMS GT3

Audi has introduced their first new sports car creation which has announced that it will be released in next year’s GT3 series. At the 2008 Essen Motor Show in Germany, Audi unveiled its new GT3 race version of the Audi R8 LMS as a part of its three pillars of Audi Motorsport. The Audi R8 GT3 named ‘R16’ within Audi’s motorsport division and has undergone all the possible proper testing. ABT Sportsline, a popular German tuner, has worked closely with Audi in developing the Audi R8 GT3.
The Audi R8 LMS will feature the mid-mounted 500-hp 5.2 liter V10 engine which produces a maximum torque of 500 Nm and is connected to a newly developed six-speed sequential sports gearbox. The Audi R8 LMS will have rear-wheel-drive because the GT3 regulations prohibit the use of four-wheel-drive.
The new Audi R8 LMS will go on sale for approximately 262,000 Euros ($332,425 USD) as the first racing sports car developed by Audi for customer use. The Audi R8 LMS will be on the race track during the 2009 GT3 season.
